展覽評介:【 人,記憶,漂浮的島嶼 】- 關於 2024 藝術展覽《The Call 鳴》

《The Call 鳴》2024國際藝術展,由美學聚落(Aesthetic Tribes)陳悠溱策展,義大利Proloco Mercato Saraceno Association共同主辦。

這場橫跨臺灣與歐洲的藝術之旅,將地點拉到充滿歷史記憶與金色風情的義大利,由駐臺西班牙藝術家紹曉露(Lourdes Salcedo Tavira)擔任主展場創作發表,結合義大利本地的藝術家 Roberto Giordani、Saverio Mercati、Federico Guerri聯展,配合金屬雕塑工作坊的交流,帶動多地藝術靈光的文化碰撞與對話。

義大利裔法語傳奇歌手卡拉·布魯尼-薩科吉(Carla Bruni-Sarkozy) 在一首富含香頌情調的歌曲《一座島嶼的可能性》反覆地唱到:

「我知曉存在的顫抖,

消失的猶豫,

陽光打在邊緣

還有那充滿輕鬆的愛,

一切瞬間即得;

在時間的中央

存在著一個島嶼的可能

在時間的中央

存在著一個島嶼的可能」

從「島嶼」到「花園」,再從繁盛花園裡合奏出的「和鳴」。若我們把這樣的連貫,首先想像每一個人的身體與存在,就好比一座漂浮的島嶼,我們總是挾帶著自身的記憶、情感、以及開放的心與其他的島嶼產生交集與互動,這是我們一同生長的世界。它在許多的不同中看見有意義的交集,產生共鳴、觸發和鳴,獨特的藝術家,在靈光的創造後面,仍有日常平凡的一面。

主展藝術家紹曉露,自西班牙馬德里,現生活與創作於福爾摩莎(台灣),自學院期所受的音樂訓練及薰陶,似乎讓我們感到她創作,可能有許多從音樂體驗轉換而來的優點:這些半抽象的作品給人一種特殊的韻律感與跳躍性,在題旨與造型的兩方面,她選擇只透露一半訊息,另一半交給觀看得想像去飛翔,因此我們常可觀察到她軟雕塑與繪畫的作品中,人物只有一半的面孔與單隻的眼眸與嘴巴。

而在這一次的展出中,陶雕、蕾絲與絹布與織線,圍繞著母性與哺育的生命故事,蕾絲織成的森林、捕夢網與「記憶花園」等意象,或藉由母鳥與人類嬰兒,羽翼包覆及胚胎孵化的意象,運用半透明織品的溫柔特質,娓娓道出女人一生的生命傳承,同時她們也在日常的角色切換中,不斷自我認識;義大利金屬雕塑藝術家Roberto Giordani主要以切割的金屬與焊接技法完成作品,他的創作關注自然元素啟發的靈感,植物葉弧形造型、樹皮的粗糙感,呼吸感、海洋潮汐、露珠與生物觸角,大地在一個充滿生息的寧靜的世界中,逐步生長茁壯,自成一體。

Saverio Mercati運用燈箱、燈管與發光裝置,表現單色極簡的幾何光柵效果,他以塊狀造型凸顯的體積感,運用水平與垂直的組合與切割,讓作品表現一種具有繪畫性筆刷的散光效果,給人一種神祕又吸引的特殊感官。Federico Guerri主要採用黑底勾白線的繪畫技法,完成一幅幅富含城市體驗與空間顛轉的負片作品,這些空間彼此滲透、交錯與穿越,觀者宛如置身未來的遺跡,欣賞作品時,給人一股既熟悉又神祕的心理視覺。

如果「美學」是一種生命經驗的共享,那麼,當我們思考這些來自不同地域與養成經驗的完成的藝術作品,可以如何找到交集?

這次的展覽用各種不同斜度的展板,切合組織而成,讓作品呈現具有一種多重空間的觀看感覺,象徵著回憶與記憶的不同片段,在身體島嶼的移動與游渡的動態裡,將體察的感應,由外在轉向內心世界裡的:月光,日光。潮起,潮落。遠方的鳴笛與聲響,或許讓人感到因未知引起的不安?

但內心的島嶼卻總能很快地調整頻率,把未知視為異質共振的「和鳴」,在「生長」的理解,以及成長之後學習的「沉澱」,認識到藝術的迷人,仍在於日常的平凡之物裡,認識到自我被給予的滋養,這是時光的贈禮,讓我們從經驗裡獲得成長,由此看見愛與永續的循環,進入夢境裡的花園。

“People, Memory, Floating Islands” About the 2024 International Art Exhibition “The Call”

**The Call 鳴** 2024 International Art Exhibition, curated by Becky Chen of Aesthetic Tribes, and co-organized by the Italian Proloco Mercato Saraceno Association, launches an artistic journey spanning Taiwan and Europe. Set in the historically rich and golden landscapes of Italy, the main exhibition features works by Spanish artist Lourdes Salcedo Tavira, who resides in Taiwan. The exhibition also includes a joint exhibition with Italian artists Roberto Giordani, Saverio Mercati, and Federico Guerri, alongside a metal sculpture workshop, fostering cultural exchange and dialogue across regions.

Italian-French singer Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, in her chanson “La possibilité d’une ile” sings repeatedly:

“Je sais le tremblement de l’être

L’hésitation à disparaìtre,

Le soleil que frappe en lisière

Et l’amour où tout est facile,

Où tout est donné dans l’instant;

Il existe au milieu du temps

La possibilité d’une île

Il existe au milieu du temps

La possibilité d’une île.”

From “island” to “garden,” and from the harmonious melodies of a flourishing garden, we can imagine each person’s body and existence as a floating island. We always carry our memories, emotions, and open hearts to intersect and interact with other islands, creating a world where we grow together. This world sees meaningful intersections amid differences, producing resonance and harmony. Unique artists, behind their inspired creations, still possess an everyday, ordinary side.

Main artist Lourdes Salcedo Tavira, from Madrid, Spain, now lives and makes art in Formosa (Taiwan). Her music training and influence seem to infuse her art with qualities translated from musical experiences: these semi-abstract works offer a unique rhythm and dynamism. In both theme and form, she reveals only half of the message, leaving the other half to the viewer’s imagination. Often, her soft sculptures and paintings feature figures with half a face, a single eye, and a mouth. This exhibition’s themes of motherhood and nurturing life stories are expressed through ceramics, lace, silk, and threads. Imagery like lace forests, dreamcatchers, and “memory gardens,” as well as motifs of mother birds and human infants, with wings and embryos, utilize the gentle qualities of translucent fabrics to narrate the life heritage of women, who constantly discover themselves in their everyday roles. Italian metal sculptor Roberto Giordani creates works primarily through cutting and welding metal, drawing inspiration from natural elements. His pieces evoke the curves of plant leaves, the roughness of tree bark, the breath of the ocean tides, dewdrops, and biological antennae, growing steadily in a serene world full of vitality. Saverio Mercati employs lightboxes, tubes, and luminous devices to create monochrome, minimalist geometric effects. Using block shapes and combining horizontal and vertical cuts, his works exude a painterly, brushstroke-like diffused light, imparting a mysterious and captivating sensory experience. Federico Guerri uses white lines on black backgrounds to depict cityscapes and spatial inversions in his negative images. These spaces permeate, intersect, and traverse each other, making the viewer feel like they are amidst future ruins, evoking a sense of familiar yet mysterious psychological perception.

If “aesthetics” is a shared life experience, how can we find intersections among these art pieces from different regions and backgrounds?

This exhibition uses various angled display panels, forming a structure that provides a multi-spatial viewing experience, symbolizing different fragments of memories. As the islands of our bodies move and traverse, the sensory perception shifts inward: moonlight, sunlight, tides rising and falling, distant whistles and sounds, possibly inducing unease due to the unknown.

Yet, the island within us quickly adjusts its frequency, seeing the unknown as a “harmony” of heterogeneity. Through the understanding of “growth” and the “settling” learned after growth, we realize that the charm of art lies in the ordinary. Recognizing the nourishment given to us, this is a gift of time, allowing us to grow from experience, to see the cycle of love and sustainability, and to enter the garden of dreams.
